Anthony Butera (1940-2021) was a fine artist for over 40 years. His work included oils, watercolors, monotypes, and photography, and his preferred subjects were architecture, street scenes, and landscapes. As a native of Staten Island, he recorded many scenes of New York and the surrounding areas and his work may be seen as documentary and archival in scope. A graduate of Wagner College and Richmond College, Butera studied with Pat Passloff and Diane Kelder, and his work has been exhibited in Manhattan, Staten Island, and throughout the tri-state area. His fine art is in the collection of several corporations, including Diamond Match Corporation, First Bank of Boston, PepsiCo, Salomon Brothers, Staten Island Savings Bank, and Richmond University Medical Center. Butera’s work is represented by Bridgeman Art Library and Superstock, Inc., a stock photo agency.
