Ciro Galeno, Jr. | Executive Director
Ciro Galeno, Jr. began working for the Noble Maritime Collection in 2005. He became the Assistant Director in 2006 and was unanimously selected by the board to serve as executive director in 2018 upon the retirement of the founder. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Communication Arts, with a focus on graphic design, from St. John's University. He also holds a certificate in art collections management and display from New York University School of Professional Studies. He curated Living Life Gloriously: A Glimpse of the Personality of Amelia "Gloria" Noble in 2007, The Atelier of Wichita Bill in 2010, Titanic: A Centennial Exhibition of Contemporary Art in 2012, and the art section of Robbins Reef Lighthouse: A Home in the Harbor in 2015. He also co-curated Andrea Doria: Rescue at Sea in 2022 and Noble Industrial in 2024.
Dawn Daniels | Director of Programs
Director of Programs Dawn Daniels began working at the museum in 2005. She has a degree in Arts Education from Empire State College, SUNY, with special training in working with students on the spectrum, and two decades of experience in non-profit administration and program development. A multidisciplined performing artist, she creatively combines her talents to present the museum’s education programs, which uniquely meld art, music, and storytelling to teach about New York’s maritime history. Amongst the education programs she has developed is the IMLS-funded Maritime Careers of New York Harbor, which has received the praise of the Port Authority’s Council on Port Performance.
Megan Beck | Curator
Megan Beck began working at the Noble Maritime Collection in 2013. She holds a Master's Degree in Library and Information Science from Pratt Institute and a Bachelor’s Degree in International Relations, with a focus on cultural anthropology, from Boston University. She is recognized as the most informed person currently researching, preserving, and interpreting the history of Sailors’ Snug Harbor, and provided research for the exhibition Daily Life at Sailors’ Snug Harbor in 2014, as well as research for Robbins Reef Lighthouse: A Home in the Harbor. She curated This is a Print in 2019 and E.F. Neilson (1865-1909): Paintings by a New Brighton artist in the Sailors’ Snug Harbor Collection in 2021, and co-curated Andrea Doria: Rescue at Sea in 2022 and Noble Industrial in 2024. She also oversees all curatorial and archival projects.
Yvette Artemus-Wofford | Administrative Assistant
Yvette Artemus-Wofford was born in Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn. She attended Howard University in Washington, DC before moving to Staten Island in 1992 with her husband where she raised two girls. She was employed with the United States Postal Service for 35 years and retired in June 2018. Just a week after her retirement, Yvette joined the staff of the Noble Maritime Collection as Administrative Assistant.
CJ Nye | Visitor Services Coordinator
CJ Nye is the Visitor Services Coordinator at the Noble Maritime Collection. She holds a Master's Degree in Arts Administration from Teachers College, Columbia University with a focus on the visitor experience and a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Art from the School of Visual Arts. CJ has helped welcome and familiarize guests to museum collections and programming as the Hilla Rebay Graduate Intern for Adult Interpretive Programs at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, as MoMA Film and Ford Family Programs Volunteer at the Museum of Modern Art, at the shops of the Morgan Library and Museum and the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and as Pro Bono Social Media Manager for the Gracie Mansion Conservancy.
