Towards Resilience: Climate Change & Coastal Communities

  • Noble Maritime Collectiom 1000 Richmond Terrace, Building D Staten Island, NY, 10301 United States (map)

We are pleased to be hosting one of The New York Community Trust's free centennial events on Tuesday, October 8 from 6 to 8 PM. Towards Resilience: Climate Change & Coastal Communities will be a panel discussion followed by a reception.

Below is information from the New York Community Trust about this event.

To celebrate our 100th anniversary and to celebrate you—the incredible communities we’ve partnered with over the past 100 years—we’re thrilled to invite you to a panel discussion on Staten Island about climate change.

With every major storm, heat wave, and air quality alert, the effects of climate change become more apparent in our daily lives.

Most coastal communities, and the ecosystems they depend upon, are already coping with the negative impacts of human-driven climate change, including rising seas, more powerful storms, and more frequent and intense precipitation. Dealing with a hotter, wetter world will require new thinking and innovative solutions at every level of governance, from the hyperlocal to the global.

Join us for a conversation with nonprofit, environmental, and community leaders about how we can help protect New York’s coastal communities and ecosystems and support promising new efforts throughout our region.

A festive reception will follow, with light bites, drinks, and the opportunity to share your vision for our region’s next century.

This venue is wheelchair accessible and ASL interpretation will be provided.
