Art director and artist at the New York Sun for 35 years, Ferdinand A. Busing (c. 1876-1961) was a Staten Island artist known for his oil paintings, watercolors, and etchings, often of local scenes. He also worked as an illustrator for magazines and corporate publications. In October 1983, Wagner College mounted an installation of Busing’s etchings which were printed from his original plates, which are now in the collection of the Noble Maritime Collection.
