William Hodges (1744-1797) was an English painter who is best known for the sketches and paintings he created while visiting locations around the world as a part of Captain James Cook’s second voyage from England to the Pacific Ocean.  Locations depicted in his art include Tahiti, Easter Island, New Zealand, and the Antarctic.
