Yakub Shalmiyev, born in 1997, is a lifelong resident of Brooklyn, New York, and gained interest in creating art shortly before earning his BE in civil engineering from CUNY City College.  He actively takes printmaking classes at the Art Students League of New York, where he studies both intaglio and lithographic printmaking.  Shalmiyev has participated in several group exhibitions, including with Audubon Artists in 2022 and the Rhode Island Watercolor Society and the Art Students League in 2024.
