Progress Report from Robbins Reef
Erin Urban and the Noble Crew are turning their focus toward repainting the exterior of Robbins Reef Lighthouse with some help from new-found friends, but first we had to tidy up our interior accomplishments.
A recent trip to the lighthouse had a mix of accomplishments and setbacks. The ventilation fan wasn’t working and we couldn’t get the generator started.
It was a hot day for painting so the team took care to take frequent breaks in the breeze. Annie and Stefan scraped, cleaned, and painted the inside of the finial.
Leslie got a first coat of paint on the kitchen door, which is now a blue chosen from the many layers of paint we uncovered on its surface.
Erin worked at removing the glue that had held the linoleum floor in place. Turpentine and a lot of effort did the job but we hope to find a better solution.
Curiously, there was neither guano nor dead fish on the balcony. Perhaps the birds have decided they like our plans to let people spend the night at the lighthouse once restorations are complete.
